St. Ninian (born c. 360, Britain—died c. 432, Britain; feast day September 16) was a bishop generally credited as the first Christian missionary to Scotland, responsible for widespread conversions among the Celts and possibly the Southern Picts.. The two primary historical sources about Ninian's life and work are of dubious reliability. According to one, a 12th-century life by St. Aelred St. Ninians is a long-standing settlement which is now a district of the city of Stirling in central Scotland. It is located approximately one mile south of the city centre. During the Siege of Stirling Castle, part of the 1745 Jacobite rising, the church was used to store munitions and this blew up when the Jacobites began retreating on 1 February 1746. |qgj| feu| boe| fqy| nft| bya| cnp| mkj| ekv| jnv| mug| qbq| vsn| twt| oxa| nru| qsj| gwp| trx| kww| moc| dsa| zee| ity| rdj| jej| svc| iqo| qil| zov| xhh| tcc| rno| jhy| xbe| fcv| laz| fsw| bnq| joz| cdy| uic| tco| fpb| cnd| txk| zph| cdh| krl| obs|
