More than 4,000 people have already signed a petition opposing a recommenda­tion that the Eastern Cape high court seat be moved from Makhanda to Bhisho. The recently establishe­d Makhanda High Court Action Committee began circulatin­g the petition in print and online just two weeks ago and has already been flooded by signatures. The court is now known as the Eastern Cape High Court, Bhisho, and Judge Dhlodhlo is its acting Deputy Judge President. The current dispensation is that the Eastern Cape Province has four High Courts all of which fall under one Judge President, Judge CM Somyalo.
